GRIM is a marketplace for ugly and surplus organic fruits and vegetables. They source the produce directly from farms and bring it to the market in two ways: through a food box subscription to private consumers, and by selling GRIM produce to food businesses through their platform.
By connecting supply to demand, GRIM operates a holistic business model that maximises sustainability - in the environmental, financial and social sense. In B2C market GRIM operates an online subscription model, where they have created a service that makes it very easy and fun to eat and live more sustainably. Customers can choose between three box sizes that come in a weekly or bi-weekly frequency and get it delivered right to their doorstep or to a pickup point near them.
In the B2B market, GRIM aggregates the supply of ugly and surplus and high quality organic produce and operates as a sustainable wholesaler, and also a sustainability stamp that helps food businesses tell their customers that they are actively fighting food waste along their value chain. GRIM is building a fully integrated account management system, where food business customers can order, track and manage all their GRIM purchasing and communications, making their sourcing more sustainable, transparent and cost-effective.
Because the farmers otherwise cannot sell the produce, GRIM purchases them for 10-60% cheaper than the 1st class produce. This allows them to set affordable prices to our customers, however always making sure their farmers are treated and paid fairly.
GRIM has been operating since 2018 in the Greater Copenhagen area, and this year they are expanding to the rest of Denmark.
