A category invented by the award winning sommelier, Jacob Kocemba, and brought to life together with Business Senior, Bo Sten Hansen. As if the market silently hd been yelling for it, Sparkling Tea is already sold across several markets internationally, and enjoyed at a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, only a year after its launch in May 2017.
The idea initially arose from Jacob's unfulfilled desire to create a complete wine menu to match the gourmet food at Michelin-starred restaurant, at Hotel NIMB. This pushed him to experiment with French luxury teas, which resulted in an impressive success. The complexities of high quality organic teas has later formed the base for Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Co.´s four different versions: BLÅ, RØD, GRØN and VINTER.
By playing with a large variation of exclusive organic teas and carefully considering temperature, infusion time and intervals, four very different Sparkling Teas have been created. Each giving a unique taste experience, as it travels along the different parts of the tongue. The teas therefore have a long taste, depth and complexity, without being dependent on a high alcohol percentage.
BLÅ is Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Co.´s proof that zero percent alcoholic beverages can be highly complex in taste. By replacing the impact alcohol has on the taste, with the careful use of 13 different teas, the drink is relieved of all alcohol, but keeps the long and round taste. The trend of non-alcoholic beverages has internationally been rising drastically over the last years. BLÅ has on several occasions been mentioned as a leading example within this category, and fulfills the non-alcoholic need at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants.
In February 2018, BLÅ won the internationally recognized award of Best New Product 2018 at BIOFACH, World leading trade fair for organic food. The first ever Danish company to win this award. Out of 150 other products, in the drinks category, BLÅ was seen as the product with the most potential to become consumers´first choice in the organic range.
The two founders, Jacob and BO, are proud and humbled by the immense interest that consumers, restaurants, retailers etc. have shown in Sparkling Tea. A success, which shows the huge potential it has. This continuously motivates them, and they therefore have big and exciting things in the pipeline.
